Frequently Asked Questions

Clean Kit scans your iPhone or iPad photo library using on-device AI to find duplicate photos, blurry shots, old screenshots, and oversized videos — then helps you remove them safely in seconds to free up storage.
Yes, your data is completely safe. All scanning and AI analysis happens entirely on your device using Apple's framework. No photos, videos, or personal data are ever uploaded anywhere. Your library stays 100% private.
Deleted items are moved to the Recently Deleted album in Apple's Photos app, where they remain recoverable for approximately 30 days before being permanently removed by iOS. Nothing is lost permanently right away — you always have time to recover anything deleted by mistake.
Smart Clean bundles all duplicates, blurry photos, and screenshots older than 30 days into a single recommendation. You can see exactly how much storage you'll recover, toggle categories on or off, and clean everything with one tap.
The app uses Apple's framework to detect both exact duplicates and near-identical similar photos across your entire library. Each duplicate group highlights the best photo based on sharpness, resolution, exposure, and face quality — so you always keep the right one. Groups are sorted by potential savings so you can tackle the biggest space savings first.
You can compress large videos without deleting them. Choose from three quality levels: Optimal (HEVC encoding with minimal quality loss, up to 4K), Medium (capped at 1080p for balanced savings), or Maximum (capped at 720p for the most space recovered). After compression, you can delete the original to free up storage instantly.
Live Photos include a hidden video component that takes up extra space. Clean Kit can convert Live Photos to still images to remove that video component and recover storage. The original creation date, location, and metadata are preserved.
Photos are automatically sorted into smart categories — People, Travel, Food, Pets, Nature, Architecture, Documents, Transport, and more — so you can browse and clean up your library by topic.
Yes. You can add storage and battery widgets to your Home Screen or Lock Screen to monitor available space without opening the app. You can also ask Siri to check your storage, scan for duplicates, or start a Smart Clean — all hands-free. It also works with the Shortcuts app for custom automations.
Clean Kit can find and delete photos and videos saved from WhatsApp that are filling up your storage, helping you quickly clear out media clutter from messaging apps.
Yes. Clean Kit is a universal app designed with adaptive layouts for both iPhone and iPad.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time by going to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device, or through the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you'll retain access to premium features until then.
All purchases are processed by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support directly.
Clean Kit requires full photo library access to scan your entire library for duplicates, blurry photos, screenshots, Live Photos, and videos. Limited access (where you select specific photos) doesn't provide enough information to detect duplicates or calculate storage savings accurately. You can revoke access anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
